This was a multi-stage journey I started in September 2012 with the VMware vSphere 5 ICM course and the subsequent VCP/VCAP exams for VCDX-DCV. Part of that expedition was to provide a roadmap to VCDX, which resulted in the VCDX Deep-Dive series. We all have opinions on what works and what does not; this chronicles what worked for me – if it adds value, use it, if not, ignore.
VCDX – “Go-To” Logical Designs
As an Enterprise Architect, whether you are getting ready for the VCDX Design Scenario portion of your VCDX defence or improving your “on the fly” consulting skills in client meetings, it makes a lot of sense to have a standard set of “Go-To” logical design templates that you can rely upon when white boarding.

Cut the Noise Podcast
Over the last month I have been working with my colleagues within RoundTower to build the “Cut the Noise” podcast. “Cut the Noise” is the platform that RoundTower uses for providing advice to our customers as their trusted advisors.
This podcast can be streamed from iTunes, SoundCloud, Google Play and Stitcher.
The intention is to release a 30-45 minute podcast episode every month where we have an honest, interesting and transparent conversation with our guests regarding their area of expertise.
Cisco UCS now supports Nutanix
Today Nutanix and Cisco have announced their support of the Nutanix Acropolis software solution on the Cisco UCS platform (C-series only). This is not an OEM deal, but a “Meet in the Channel” deal, where the partner is responsible for building and configuring the platform at the customer site.
The sorry story of Cisco’s foray into the storage market is pretty woeful with Whiptail and Springpath. It is good to see them making a great storage decision for once. Albeit, Nutanix is more than Software-Defined Storage now with their Enterprise Cloud vision.
