Nutanix Platform Expert = VCDX squared?

npx_logo Nutanix have announced their version of the VCDX, the Nutanix Platform Expert (NPX).  From reading the blueprint, it definitely takes Data Center architecture design to the next level.

NPX Summary for the VCDX-aware:

  • IMPRESSIVE! – No submission or examination fees
  • Must prove mastery of two hypervisors (candidate choices: vSphere, KVM or Hyper-V)
  • Must be a Nutanix Platform Professional (NPP)

Time Management for the Easily Distracted

My brain is a bit like a mosquito on coke – all over the place.  I have things that I need to do but with so much going on, I buzz from topic to topic on a whim.  This is great when you are free-styling a new idea and brainstorming how to improve said concept and make it happen.  Not so good when you have a bunch of stuff that needs to delivered sequentially and on schedule.

“So You Wanna Be a Fighter?”

This is my take on the career and skill development blogs that were recently posted by Duncan Epping, Jonathon Frappier and Chris Colotti.

For those of you who follow the UFC, in particular, “The Ultimate Fighter”, UFC President, Dana White, is famous for the line “So you wanna be a fighter?  Well, you gotta fight!” (paraphrased sans expletives).  The same is true in our “vWorld”.

PhD. in Architecture Design?

I listened to a recent Nutanix .NEXT Community Podcast (Episode #6) that had Mark Brunstad talking about the education and certification plans of Nutanix.  Very interesting, it confirms a speculative post I wrote last year after VMworld US 2014 based upon rumours I heard around the Blogger’s Area.  There is also Steve Kaplan’s blog post that alludes to this.

Private Cloud – SDDC 1.0

You may have read my recent Next-Generation Data Center post, that summarised the Conceptual Model and Logical Design of my ideal Private Cloud solution.  This post describes the current vendors that are the leaders of their respective markets and I believe they have a compelling integration story with the highest chance of success.  The back-bone of the strategy relies upon VMware, who in my opinion are the current leaders of SDDC for technology, professional services, training and support.
