RapidMatter_Logo I am kick-starting a GitHub project called RapidMatter.  The live version of this GNU General Public Licence prototype will run at RapidMatter.com, which I will fund personally through the earnings of my blog VCDX133.COM.  I have been thinking about this since 2013 when I first started my VCDX journey and it is time to put it out there and make it a reality.

Mission Statement: To provide a vendor-agnostic Enterprise-Architecture-Design-as-a-Service for Infrastructure.

Nutanix Platform Expert = VCDX squared?

npx_logo Nutanix have announced their version of the VCDX, the Nutanix Platform Expert (NPX).  From reading the blueprint, it definitely takes Data Center architecture design to the next level.

NPX Summary for the VCDX-aware:

  • IMPRESSIVE! – No submission or examination fees
  • Must prove mastery of two hypervisors (candidate choices: vSphere, KVM or Hyper-V)
  • Must be a Nutanix Platform Professional (NPP)

PhD. in Architecture Design?

I listened to a recent Nutanix .NEXT Community Podcast (Episode #6) that had Mark Brunstad talking about the education and certification plans of Nutanix.  Very interesting, it confirms a speculative post I wrote last year after VMworld US 2014 based upon rumours I heard around the Blogger’s Area.  There is also Steve Kaplan’s blog post that alludes to this.

The Next Elite Architecture Certification

The current Elite Architecture Design Certifications are: VMware Certified Design eXpert (VCDX) and Cisco Certified Architect (CCAr).

At VMworld 2014 US, there was a lot of speculation about the integrity and future of the VCDX program with Mark Brunstad and John Arrasjid moving to greener pastures.  With Chris Colotti taking over as Principal Architect and VCDX Evangelist, I think the VCDX Program is in good hands.  This will be further reinforced once the new VCDX Program Manager is announced.
