Virtual Design Master – Support it!

vDM You may be aware of the Virtual Design Master competition which is currently in Season 2.  The event theme is based upon the “Zombie Apocalypse”, where you are given a set of business requirements and you have 4 days to develop a design with limited resources that is then assessed by the judging panel.  Each season has three challenges with eliminations and then a finale to determine the winner.  I was so impressed by the competition that I sponsored it with my own time and money.  I urge you to do the same, the more we support community events such as these, the greater the benefit to the community, thus producing great architects.

PowerCLI – How do I use it?

PowerCLI is an incredible tool that you can use to automate many of your operational procedures, particularly useful if you are constrained by budget and you are competent in scripting with Windows PowerShell.  This post covers setting up and using PowerCLI, the operational risks entailed, how to use Virtu-al.net’s vCheck script and a “Delete Snapshot, notify by email” script.
